2016 Resolution: promise to put myself first and actually follow/make my dreams become a reality.
I was watching One Tree Hill the other day for like the hundredth time, it was the episode where the seniors are in class and their teacher asks them if 15 or 50 minutes can change their life (FYI: if you haven't watched it you should!).
I got to thinking and I truly believe with all my heart that every decision that we make in our daily routine makes a difference in bigger ways than some. Which means every second and minute count for something whether you see it at the time or not. Some of you might see it like I do, while others have the mentality of "it is what it is", meaning whatever happens...happens. Well I think that life is so much more complicated than that even if you took God out of the equation.
Personally I believe in God with everything that I have and yes I might doubt him from time to time but I am only human and it's a fault that needs work. Anyways with that being said you can guess that I put all faith in him and that whatever happens in my life and every decision I happen to make is for a specific reason that fits into God's plan perfectly. Now I know its hard for some to put such faith in someone that they can't see but if you ask me that's what makes life somewhat magical. I mean think about it, being able to leave it all up to him takes strength which unfortunately I lack from time to time.
With God you need patience and a lot of it because he doesn't work on your time. All great things come in God's timing, so if you're a believer like myself you know it can be very difficult not to try to anticipate God's next move. Frankly, I think thats where we screw ourselves out of something great, we try to think of God's next move before he makes it and when we think we figured it out we try to rush it and make it happen sooner than when he wanted it to. So some advice, be patience because I'm sure God's plan is way better than the one you have for yourself.
Now for the others that don't believe in God and just believe that life happens and that it is what it is. I can see where that makes life more bearable because you convince yourself that you can't control where your life is going or control what's going to happen to you in this life so why worry right? Well I disagree, even if you believe in God or don't every choice you make does form your future in a drastic way and you won't even know it until it has already happened and sometimes not even then.
You wanna know how I know that we can shape our own lives in way that we never thought we could?
I know because all those changes that could of changed your life are the "what if's" that we are always asking/ thinking to ourselves. Be honest, you have thought back to a specific moment in your life and thought "I wonder if this would still be my life if I would of gone after that opportunity", we ask ourselves all the time even when we know that deep down we all know it would of made your life completely different if you would of gone for it.
Personally I still have a lot of important decisions to make about my present and future life that will be very challenging, mainly because I don't want to regret a decision in the end. But I choose to believe that while I'm trying to make a decision, God is watching over me, helping guide me into making the right decision for myself.
Sometimes it helps to have a little faith in something much bigger than the both of us.
Even if you believe that choices do have a major impact on your life, doesn't mean you need to be scared of messing up and making the wrong decision because you won't, just trust yourself.
If you take anything from this post, I hope it's this. Life is a blessing in itself and it's way to short to be living life for someone else besides yourself because when the sand runs out you can't just flip the hourglass and start over, its just that.....over.
From time to time ask yourself if your time was up tomorrow would you regret the way your life is today?
If so than change it! It's never to late to start over, heck you can start over right now. Don't wait until tomorrow, don't leave anything unspoken and remember it's your life and if you ever need anybody's approval...you better believe it's your own!
